Secret. Untapped. Unearthed.

So let’s try this again. I just finished my entry for today when KABLAMO! Web decides it can’t publish my post and that it is lost forever… I don’t know how, and I don’t know why but it is, so let’s try again!

Wassup?! How are we on this freaky deaky Friday? If your answer is not “Awesome captain awesome!” well read on, because it will be because today is… **anticipated gasp, no breathing, heavy air, sore chest, pains in leg** New Music Day!! **insert young child – “Yay mummy, can I have some new music on new music day?” – “No Tommy, we have your fathers record collection at home”** Guess you miss out today Tommy. Now who provides new Aussie music better than any other person you know, you don’t know and maybe even better than those that don’t exist? Triple J Unearthed that’s who. You know’em, they brought you so many bands who make your blood boil, your sweat turn to air and your teeth almost fall out from smiling so much. Grinspoon, The Middle East, Missy Higgins, Philadelphia Grand Jury and Art vs Science are just a tiny, minuscule few of those they have discovered and they continue to do so every day. While live venues around Australia close down and being heard becomes harder, Triple J Unearthed fills the void in the digital landscape and provides a tree to be climbed, an avenue to be walked, an apple crumble to eat and the glass of wine to go with it. Thank you Triple J for helping us hear what talent resides upon our shores and what untapped, undiscovered resources we have. YEOW!

Now, enough of a love-in for one day, let’s talk music. Firstly, lets kick it off with these lads from WA who just smashed onto the scene with a couple of gems a while back but I just can’t get enough of. Still super crazy young, and so energized it puts batteries to shame, Tim & Jean have got talent falling out their skin holes and music you taste with your soul. With the track Come Around they encapsulate a generation of festival going, electro individualism loving peeps who live for the music and the experience it allows them to have with those they love. Like a slurpee in the sun, or a whippee on the run, check’em out. If you likey you have to watch this cover of Dave Mathews Band’s Crash, totally out of whack with the audio and not really what you would expect from other tracks, but it kind of adds to its goodness me thinks.

Alright alright, now the gents I never tire of mentioning because they just keep giving me reason to, Boy & Bear, have wrapped up their UK tour with Laura Marling (who may I add has the most beautiful, resonating tone of which I heart) and are about to embark on their tour supporting Lisa Mitchell (also lovely, see earlier posts for appreciation) with good friends Georgia Fair. These guys have had a massive year, coming in at around 153* on triple J’s Hottest 100 (* thereabouts) and having sell out shows all year including one show in Melbourne where this amazing fan-recorded video was shot featuring Laura Marling and Marcus Mumford on their track Mexican Mavis while touring together. Check it, seriously wicked stuff. On top of all this, like a little cherry on your weat-bix sundae, these guys are just about to release their debut EP, so for details hit them up on MySpace, Facebook or even Twitter (tech Savvy Gen Y Artists dude… they got everything). And if you need more persuading, watch this beautiful cover of Bon Iver’s Flume. Love it.

Now let’s keep this train rolling, or steaming, or pouring or whatever. You may or not have heard of these guys, but either way I am sure you will not turn their song off if you hear it. I am talking of course about the awesome sounds of Deep Sea Arcade for which you should take a deep breath, buy some scuba gear or just marry a shark and get under water now to visit this mesmerising place and partake in some sweet sweet games. They can turn your dial and by your smile my friend. My favourite is the highly hyped Lonely In Your Arms as it taps my tapping tapper nicely, but this is followed closely by the lovely yet surprisingly saddening Don’t Be Sorry. On top of this, about a month ago a little birdie dropped a disc on my lap which set alight. I proceeded to shout, scream, pant, cry… until I shouted what it said on the disc… Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire!... Now if you listen to Triple J you would have heard one of two tracks me thinks but man can these guys set you and your theory alight with rockin, unique distinguished sounds that set them apart and straight up on fire. A six piece from beautiful NSW these guys and girlie whirlies are just straight up awesome so check’em out.

Blam so that be it peeps. Like a camel in the dessert, I am sweet as a nut and I am sorry for delays in posts of late, I have left my job, started a new one and just got plenty of biz biz mark going on right now so bare with me and all shall be bowling again soon. Thanks peeps and don’t forget Boy & Bear EP launch so hit them up and get on the wagon before it turns into a bus, then a plane and then a jet-ski carrying, aeroplane fuelling, car mega yacht YEOW!

you know me, but who are you?

If you are reading this I want you to tell me. If you are not reading this I want you to read this. If someone else is smelly and you are too, just grab the broom and get sweeping. I know you can dance, dance dance dance like a chicken to your pants.
If you think this is going backwards you just haven't seen the backwards man yet, he also likes sausages with mustard and cheese. If you buy them, you own them and if you book them they will come. Seven times two is still thirty-six, you can't change that no matter how hard you try.

Clementine, oh Clementine, how I heart thee Clementine. I just want to listen to you for hours, then learn to tame lions and mix cement http://tiny.cc/1HNGN

Washington, I thought you were a place I once visited and enjoyed like a kid enjoys cake or a snow leopard enjoys food . But I now know you are more than that and you are music which makes my hairs stand to attention like a battalion on the march or a dog awaiting a treat for being 'such a good boyyyyyy'. The beat and simplicity of How to tame lions is awesome and the inclusion of the 6/8 feel, pushing the track along, it's just a really nice touch. My dog is even kicking along to this one when we sit and listen together.... I didn't know that was possible but he is loving it! Maybe cause he thinks he is a Lion... I don't know...

You know what else is nice? Other than free things and things that make you go mmm... I would say something else that is nice is that sense of happiness you can get just by chillin. My current favourite thing to do to make me feel awesomely relax-od, is just when I get home from ye-old-office-o, just sittin on the veranda, playin some guit guit and just feeling the day whind up. You spend so much time in doors while working (or I do anyway) that it is only on the weekend you feel the day in all its glory, but after work you can feel it breathe its last energetic breaths before it allows night to put it to bed. It is put to rest ahead of another day of allowing us to live. I love it! Coming up with a couple of originals and covering every song I have ever loved (if I can figure it out) and just chillin. Best feeling.

Now another band needing needing needing to be mentioned tonight is Metronomy. These guys. Mate if you haven't heard of them yet or heard one of their gems like heartbreaker or radio ladio, get to this page _ http://tiny.cc/NdYCY I have just changed your musical journey, like Doc did in Back to the Future. It's ok, don't thank me now, just wait until you see them live, then thank me. The show these guys put on is one in a million. Lights on their shirts. Sweet sweet dance moves, the likes seen only in Napolean Dynamite... They have got it all. Check this live footage and tell me you are not impressed http://tiny.cc/wtpE2 the first track in this is called Holiday and is so ridiculously awesome I actually cried twice, like just now writing this to you.

Anyways, enjoy my awesome lovely peeps. I hope you enjoy and if you didn't or don't or doin it like a punk or just bippin and boppin like you is popin and lockin it like a fresh b'biggety from way out west in the big bad city or just blam blam SUCKA BLAM! Have a lovely morning/afternoon/evening/morning/steven/crab_walk/afternoon/choco_pie/evening.... whatever, just whatever, I'm out

Yeow!

What is white, wears a dress and rides a sweet bike?

A girl wearing a white rabbit mask, wearing a dress who is riding a sweet bike...

Anyways wassup? My name Is Jenis Ice Creams and I’m here to tell you the three essentials of Halloween. They could save your house, and your heart... or maybe just your house, I can't protect you from yourself when it comes to heart related problems.. i think someone else probably has a blog for that...

Alright here goes. One - buy a thousand little fake spiders and drop them off the roof of your building onto people walking past. Hours of fun and years of funny stories to tell the kids at Halloween in a ghoulish ghoulish voice. Two - wear a skeleton suit, like that seen in Daft Punks Around The world clip http://tiny.cc/CxKtA everybody loves a skeleton! And Three - Make sure you have plenty of treats for all the awesomely dressed little kiddley-winks. They wait for this day each year and to be disappointed by a poorly organised candy stash... well let's just say it is not a nice feeling...

If you ensure, as a grown-up you have prepared this year I know for a fact that your house will not be egg’d, poop-decked, el-calibried (very complicated... you don’t want it) and you will definitely not be stinky stank bombed. Treat = Treat, Trash = Trick... don’t give trash, we have enough of a rubbish problem as it is, no need to give it to the kids...

Now for some music. I just had the lovely pleasure of being passed a song I have been hunting since last Tuesday. It is a track called Animal and it is by a small Swedish band named Miike Snow. I totally heart this track, and the only thing that is better, is there film clip http://tiny.cc/ZnDGy the animal heads are an awesome little dress up to the band and perhaps this is what inspired my earlier joke. One can not be sure though. I don't know too much about the band itself other than what I am being told by Wikipedia so I will not explain, however they shall receive another mention once I have heard more and follow my nose to the goodness and sweet delight, known as awesome music.

Another track I can't leave you without throwing toward you like a frisbee, whistling with pleasant melodies, is this amazing track by The Middle East, Blood http://tiny.cc/Vv8xC once again the film clip has me gasping. The technique used for the landscapes in this animated piece are awesome and now I just want to be an animated giant... seriously I do, why do you look at me like that? It's true!

So remember Halloween, all about scaring but making the kids happy, and listen to these songs. They made me smile so hopefully they make you smile too. Have an awesome day awesome ones!

YEOW!
